Digital Chant Stand for iPad v3.0 now available!

Digital Chant Stand for iPad v3.0 is now available in the App Store!

As you probably know, in v2 we added subscriptions to help with the ongoing maintenance and development of the DCS app. In v3, basic functionality is once again free to use without subscription. We want to get the DCS app into as many hands as possible as we think it's a great resource. Please tell your friends, fellow parishioners, chanters and choir directors!

We have added new functionality for our subscribers:
  • Cache scores and audio files for offline use, with obvious indicator of file's status -- no more guessing!
  • Quickly browse all of a service's files via new Media popover -- no need to scroll through entire service to view and download files
  • File Manager to easily browse, access and delete cached files
  • Email audio files or open in another app
We have many ideas for future development (including the possibility of supporting iPhone). But we can't do it without your help! Please consider subscribing if you are not doing so already.

Thank you again to our current subscribers for their help in the ongoing development of the DCS app!

Virtual Chant Instructor

Virtual Chant Instructor for the iPad is being retired!

We are now focusing our attention on Digital Chant Stand, which has VCI's content and more. We encourage you to download it now.

Virtual Chant Instructor brings together texts, musical scores and audio recordings of Orthodox Christian hymns to facilitate learning and preparation to sing in church. People learn faster when an instructor supplies an audio model. VCI provides that.

The first volume of VCI is Holy Week and Easter. The texts of all the hymns are in English, and the musical scores are in both Byzantine and Western notations. The translations, musical compositions and recordings are by Fr. Seraphim Dedes.

- Read the text of a hymn
- See the music in Western or Byzantine notation
- Listen to the audio recording
- Be ready to chant for Holy Week

Digital Chant Stand 2.0

Digital Chant Stand for iPad version 2.0 is now available in the App Store. We strongly encourage everyone to upgrade to the new version, since DCS version 1 will not be able to access new material after December 31, 2014.

The biggest change in version 2.0 is our new subscription model. DCS materials will continue to be free and available on our web site. The app, on the other hand, is rather expensive to develop and maintain. Therefore, we are offering 6-month subscriptions at $9.99 to continue using the iPad app with all its cool features.

We think that being able to view, hear, and print texts and music, as well as download them for offline use on your iPad, is well worth the subscription, and we hope you agree! There are additional enhancements we'd like to make to the app, and for this we need the support of its users. We are excited about the future of DCS on the iPad and hope that you will help make it a reality.
